Compress Image

Reduce image file size while keeping the best possible quality.

Drop your image here

or

JPG, JPEG, PNG or WebP · Maximum 25 MB

Your image stays in your browser and is not uploaded to WCODX.

How to compress an image

  1. Select your JPG, PNG or WebP image.
  2. Choose a compression level.
  3. Compress the image in your browser.
  4. Download the optimized image.

Why compress images?

Smaller images load faster, use less storage and are easier to share. WCODX preserves the image dimensions and focuses on reducing file size rather than resizing the image.

Supported image formats

Compress Image supports JPG, JPEG, PNG and WebP files. PNG transparency is preserved, and the original format remains the default output format.

Private browser-based compression

Your image stays in your browser and is not uploaded to WCODX. No image upload endpoint or server-side processing is used.

Image quality and file size

Recommended, Strong and Maximum quality settings provide different quality and size tradeoffs for lossy formats. PNG is re-encoded using the browser's native PNG encoder, which may not reduce every PNG file.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Compress Image free?

Yes. Compress Image is free to use in your browser.

Are my images uploaded?

No. The image stays on your device and is processed locally in your browser.

Which image formats are supported?

JPG, JPEG, PNG and WebP are supported. SVG, GIF, HEIC and AVIF are not supported in this version.

Will PNG transparency be preserved?

Yes. PNG output keeps transparency because it remains PNG rather than being converted to JPEG.

Why is my compressed image not smaller?

Some images are already optimized or PNG files do not benefit from browser re-encoding. WCODX reports the actual result and does not claim savings when the output is larger.

Does Compress Image resize my image?

No. The output keeps the decoded image dimensions and aspect ratio.
