How this UK salary calculator works

This browser-based estimate applies the published 2026–27 Personal Allowance and income-tax bands, regional Scottish rates where selected, employee Class 1 National Insurance, and optional annual student-loan deductions. It is not a payslip or tax assessment.

Important assumptions

The estimate uses gross employment income, a standard Personal Allowance with the statutory taper above £100,000, and annualised calculations. It does not model tax codes, benefits, bonuses, multiple jobs, Marriage Allowance, salary sacrifice, pension tax relief, Welsh tax-code administration or employer National Insurance.

FAQ

Does Scotland use different tax bands?

Yes. Scotland uses its own published non-savings, non-dividend income-tax bands. Employee National Insurance remains a UK-wide Class 1 calculation here.

Are my salary figures uploaded?
