How to create a QR code

- Enter the URL, text, contact detail or Wi-Fi information.
- Adjust the size, colors, error correction and margin if needed.
- Download the generated QR code as PNG or genuine vector SVG.
What can you create QR codes for?
URL QR codes
Share a website address, landing page or other link. A domain without a scheme is normalized to HTTPS, while valid custom protocols are preserved.
Text QR codes
Encode short notes or instructions. The practical input limit is 2,000 characters because larger content can produce complex codes that are harder to scan.
Wi-Fi QR codes
Share a network name, security type, password and hidden-network setting. The Wi-Fi password is handled only in your browser while the code is generated.
Email, phone and SMS QR codes
Create mailto, tel and SMS-compatible payloads for contact actions. Email subject and message fields are optional; email address, phone and SMS number are required.
How QR code error correction works
QR error correction adds redundancy so a code can remain readable when part of its surface is damaged or obscured. Low, Medium, Quartile and High levels trade compactness for recovery capacity. Higher levels can make the QR more complex, so use the lowest level that suits the intended use.
Tips for easy-to-scan QR codes
Use strong foreground/background contrast, keep the built-in quiet zone clear, avoid placing text over the modules and test the downloaded code at the size where people will scan it. A larger output is useful for print, but it does not replace good contrast and clean surroundings.
Privacy
QR generation happens locally in your browser. URLs, text, email details, phone numbers, SMS messages, Wi-Fi names and passwords are not uploaded to WCODX, sent to a third-party QR service or included in analytics.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the WCODX QR Code Generator free?
Yes. You can create and download static QR codes in your browser for free.
Does WCODX upload my QR code data?
No. QR content is processed locally in your browser and is not uploaded to WCODX or a QR generation service.
Can I create a QR code for Wi-Fi?
Yes. Choose Wi-Fi, enter the network name, select its security and provide the password when required.
Can I create a QR code for a website URL?
Yes. Choose URL and enter a complete URL or a domain such as example.com. A missing web scheme is normalized to https://.
Can I download my QR code as PNG?
Yes. PNG downloads are available at 256, 512 or 1024 pixels and use the selected colors, correction level and margin.
Can I download a QR code as SVG?
Yes. WCODX creates genuine vector SVG output from the generated QR modules.
What QR code size should I use?
512 × 512 is a practical default for most uses. Use 1024 × 1024 when you need a larger print or image asset.
Why will not my QR code scan?
Use strong contrast, keep the quiet zone clear, avoid covering modules and test the downloaded result at its intended display or print size.
Are QR codes generated by WCODX permanent?
A static QR code containing text or a URL does not expire by itself. A destination URL can still stop working or change.
