Find a percentage of a number
To find X% of Y, divide X by 100 and multiply the result by Y. This is useful for discounts, tax estimates, tips and proportions.
Percentage increase and decrease
Percentage change compares a new value with an original value. A positive result is an increase; a negative result is a decrease. An original value of zero cannot be used as the baseline for this calculation.
Percentage change vs percentage difference
Percentage change has a defined original value. Percentage difference treats both values equally and compares their absolute difference with their average magnitude.
